About the Mendocino Coast Model Railroad and Historical Society

The Mendocino Coast Model Railroad and Historical Society (MCMR&HS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

member photoClub members (see membership)are predominantly older, male and retired but all are motivated by a keen interest in the history of the Mendocino North Coast and the role that logging railroads played in the lives of our forbears. Club members are encouraged to help build and operate our G-Scale railroad. The club has ambitious plans and a great deal of development and construction yet to accomplish. Our numbers are modest and we welcome new members who share our love of model railroading and local history.

Model Railroad Mission

Our mission is to build a model train layout depicting scenes from the railroads that served the redwood mills along the Mendocino Coast. Click here to see details.

Educational Mission

The club has an educational mission which is to inform the public about all the railroads in the Mendocino Coast Redwood Empire. This web site fulfills that part of our mission as it includes stories, facts, data and descriptions of the railroads and the ships that belonged to the lumber companies.
